Hello

Welcome! I'm Jackie DeMerlis, an avid gardener and former boutique flower farm owner. Over the years, I have often been asked for gardening advice, and I've heard many doubts about others' own gardening abilities. My mission is to help you discover the joy of gardening and experience the countless benefits enjoyed by gardeners throughout their lifetimes. Let's cultivate your green thumb together!

My Story

Many of you may know me from my experience running a small cut flower farm by the same name, Sprout to Bloom. I loved learning, growing and selling those flowers but while I ran that business, I felt something was missing. I took a step back from selling and reassessed the goals I had for myself, my garden and my business. It became clearer to me that my mental health was closely tied to how much time I spent creating in, tending to and appreciating my garden. As life stresses accumulated over the years and the impacts of global warming became more apparent, I knew I wanted to do something that would bring the ability to garden to people's doorsteps while improving the natural environment around us rather than harming it.

To prepare, I laid into the research about what individual acts we could all take part in to have a larger impact on the vital ecosystems we live in. I also began experimenting with my own yard, transitioning garden beds to have different purposes, styles and even began the process of turning our lawn into a meadow! I saw that this sparked a new level of gardening interest for me. Within my small circle, it was a conversation starter for many but I kept hearing doubts about others' ability to grow a beautiful garden full of flowers, birds, bees and other wildlife. It was difficult to convey that just getting started is the greatest step and one worth taking.

My hope with Sprout to Bloom Garden Consult & Design is to help establish vital habitats for our pollinators, fight climate destruction but mostly, to make gardening accessible. To help you start your own garden, no matter how big or small, to experience the joy it has brought me over the years and to enhance the functional beauty of your outdoor living spaces. Additionally, I want to extend my expertise in plant selection and combination by designing both container gardens and garden beds, assisting at nurseries and extending into teaching at the home and in the community. Please reach out today to see how we can get started growing together!
